SuDS on the beeb

Over the last week, we’ve seen a number of popular BBC shows talk about the opportunities and challenges of managing rainfall.

Last Friday’s BBC Gardeners World featured an article on SuDS and Raingardens when it looked at two examples in Derbyshire. The first a community garden at the Strutts Community Centre in Belper, which is included as a susdrain case study  and the second a private homeowners own example in their back garden. You can find it starting at 18minutes in. Gardeners’ World, 2018: Episode 13 on BBC iplayer.

BBc’s Countryfile, on Sunday also covered the challenge posed to river water quality by Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs)  that are designed to discharge into watercourses when the sewer system is over capacity. The episode calls for more monitoring and greater use of SuDS. You can find the piece at 8 minutes, and 29 minutes in this episode on BBC iplayer.

Enjoy!
