CIRIA's SuDS Manual highly commended by ICE
CIRIA were proud recipients of a Highly Commended for the SuDS Manual at this year’s ICE Awards. The prize was awarded in the Sustainable Water Management category sponsored by Chris Binnie, who alongside ICE President Sir John Armitt, presented the award to the project team, represented by Bridget Woods Ballard and Helen Udale-Clarke from HR Wallingford, Sue Illman from Illman Young and CIRIA’s Suzanne Simmons. Also in attendance was the chair of the SuDS Manual project steering group and past president of the ICE, David Balmforth.
CIRIA’s Director Owen Jenkins said…
“I am delighted that the SuDS manual and the team responsible for producing it have been recognised in this way. CIRIA and SuDS have become synonymous terms and the latest guide builds on a programme of industry and stakeholder collaboration co-ordinated by CIRIA over many years.” The award recognises “particular actions within the water sector which have benefited society by improving the sustainability of water”.
Guests were wined and dined in the newly refurbished Great Hall at One Great George Street and the ceremony was compared by BBC news journalist Alice Bhandhukravi. Special guest Ian Hislop fondly remembering his late father’s life and work as a civil engineer, and Robin Sham best known for his ground breaking bridge engineering projects, provided a stimulating overview of his work over the years.
