Sustainable water management using spatial data

Background
Working with earth observation data is no new concept to the water utility sector, with great steps being made to enhance the use of data and solutions in recent decades. However, in an ever-developing digital environment, there is an opportunity to collaborate and educate industry at a base level – providing people with information to encourage the usage of earth observation data, giving confidence to first-time or infrequent users.

We will explore how well integrated earth observation is within the water utility sector in the UK and discuss how this can develop, posing questions such as:

  • How much does earth observation influence the sector?
  • What data is available and what can it be used for?
  • Where can I get this data and what challenges are expected?

A series of presentations followed by a Q&A and live debate session will allow attendees to engage with speakers to address key questions faced by the construction sector surrounding the effective use of earth observation information and a look into how to improve this moving forward.

About CIRIA Geospatial
CIRIA Geospatial is a community of practice that aims to deliver focused collaboration by demystifying the art of earth observation to civil engineers, clients, government and asset managers alike, providing the vehicle for knowledge transfer and awareness across the built environment sector. With a main goal of connecting these communities that may benefit from the use of geospatial data, the group will tackle a number of key challenge areas faced across industry, showcasing examples of how earth observation has been used, emphasising applicability, simplicity and overall benefits.
