October 2014 implementation of Schedule 3 on SuDS ruled out by Defra
Defra has sent a letter to key stakeholders to inform them that Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act will not be implemented in October 2014.The letter says:
“The Government remains committed to implementing SuDS at the earliest available opportunity, but not in a way that has an adverse impact on development.”
A Government statement will be provided in the summer which will set out in greater detail the plans for implementation. The letter goes on to say that the six month lead in time will be provided as Defra expect that secondary legislation will be in laid in Parliament approximately six months before the implementation date.
